Mediacom Taps Nortel for DWDM

Mediacom Communications Corp. said Wednesday that it has deployed a carrier-grade dense-wavelength-division-multiplexing network based on optical solutions from Nortel Networks.

The MSO said it is using the vendor’s "OPTera Metro 5200 Multiservice Platform" to transport high-bandwidth, carrier-class communications throughout most of its service territories, including connectivity to major metropolitan cities.

Mediacom is the country’s No. 8 MSO, with systems passing approximately 2.74 million homes and serving some 1.55 million basic subscribers in 23 states.
