EchoStar Adding 1,000 Call-Center Jobs

EchoStar Communications Corp. will add more than 1,000 employees at its call center in Tulsa, Okla., the direct-broadcast satellite provider said Thursday.
“Expanding our customer-service operations in Tulsa is important in keeping pace with the growing number of cable customers who are switching to Dish Network for our digital-video recorders, high-definition TV and the lowest-priced all-digital-television service in the nation," Dish vice president of customer care Robert Kondilas said in a prepared statement.
In other EchoStar News, Dish began offering local channels via satellite Thursday in the Wausau-Rhinelander, Wis., and Sioux City, Iowa, areas.
The additions boost EchoStar’s list of markets where it offers local-channel service to 128.
Wausau-Rhinelander-area Dish customers in 11 counties -- Adams, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida, Portage, Price, Taylor, Vilas and Wood -- can now receive ABC channel 9 (WAOW), CBS channel 7 (WSAW), Fox channel 55 (WFXS), NBC channel 12 (WJFW) and PBS channel 20 (WHRM).
And Sioux City area Dish customers in 23 counties can now receive ABC channel 9 (KCAU), CBS channel 14 (KMEG), NBC channel 4 (KTIV), Fox channel 44 (KPTH) and PBS channel 27 (KSIN).
