The T. Howard Foundation said Thursday that it would honor MTV Networks chairman Tom Freston for his efforts in diversity at the group's ninth annual fund-raiser in April.
In a statement, T. Howard executive director Cynthia Dinkins praised Freston's efforts in bringing diversity to MTVN's corporate culture, as well as to the programming on its networks, which include MTV: Music Television, Nickelodeon and VH1, among others.
'While many pay diversity merely lip service, Mr. Freston has ensured that MTV's commitment to diversity transcends all of their networks and is reflected in everything they do,' Dinkins said in the press release.
The annual fund-raiser will be held April 30 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
Proceeds go to help provide scholarships and summer internships in the telecommunications industry for women and minority college students.
