Comcast Silences Talk-Radio Simulcast

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 3/19/2004 9:43:00 AM

CN8, The Comcast Network is subbing yoga for morning talk radio.

The Comcast Corp.-owned network has pulled the plug on its simulcast of radio station New Jersey 101.5’s morning show with Jim Gearhart, AP reported.

Among the programs replacing the simulcast will be Yoga Zone, Kardio Knockout and Entertainment.com, AP said.

New Jersey 101.5 program director Eric Johnson told AP the simulcast had been scaled back from four hours to two hours about 18 months ago, and that it was only being aired in central and northern New Jersey, and not the entire state.

CN8 said in a prepared statement that because the morning show will still be on the radio, "The Comcast Network feels that we are not taking anything away from our NJ viewers, but instead are adding more options to their morning routine."
