Rodgers Leaves PowerTV

By Jeff Baumgartner -- Multichannel News, 2/7/2001 9:44:00 AM

Cable set-top-box software vendor PowerTV Inc. has confirmed that one of its top sales and marketing officers has left the company to pursue other opportunities.

Bow Rodgers, PowerTV's former chief operating officer and senior vice president of sales and marketing, left earlier this month and is fielding a number of 'attractive offers' from other, undisclosed companies, PowerTV CEO Steve Necessary said. 'We're sorry to see Bow leave, and we want to wish him well,' he added.

Necessary said PowerTV is currently seeking a replacement for Rodgers, and it expects a smooth transition. Chuck Kaplan -- who joined PowerTV late last year as vice president of marketing following a stint at Philips Consumer Electronics Co. -- will handle Rodgers' sales responsibilities on a temporary basis, Necessary added.

During Rodgers' tenure, copies of PowerTV's software have found homes on more than 5.5 million digital set-tops. About 100,000 boxes per week are currently shipped with PowerTV's software on board, Necessary said.

Rodgers could not be reached immediately for further comment.
