Liberty Cablevision of Puerto Rico and Net2Phone Inc. have launched the second phase of their Internet-protocol-telephony trial.
The local and long-distance service is being made available to 4,000 Liberty subscribers.
The second phase will test emergency 911 services and CALEA, the government-security-related wire-tapping function, on top of the phase-one-tested features of call waiting, caller ID and directory assistance.
The test is slated to run through the summer of 2003. Subscribers can select either a variable per-minute billing plan or a flat monthly rate.
