Hong Kong Gets DBS Service

Intelsat and Television Broadcasts Ltd. (TVB) plan to launch a direct-broadcast satellite service in Hong Kong, which will offer a range of Cantonese and other Chinese-language programming supplied by TVB.

Intelsat will put up $53 million in cash and $16.5 million worth of transponder capacity, while TVB will invest $25.2 million in cash and $324 million worth of programming over three years.
