Microsoft Rolls Out IPG

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 5/6/2003 10:02:00 AM

Oregon-based Willamette Broadband LLC and Uvision LLC rolled out Microsoft Corp.'s "Microsoft TV" interactive programming guide, giving the software giant its first 22,000 U.S. subscribers.

Microsoft's guide is faster and more user-friendly than Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc.'s TV Guide Interactive, but since Microsoft licenses IPG technology from Gemstar, the company will benefit from Microsoft's IPG deployments.

Microsoft first announced the deal with the two Oregon operators at the Western Show in December.
