Pasadena, Calif. -- Hallmark Channel will debut broadcast network ABC's successful Dinotopia miniseries later this year.
The six-hour, Hallmark Entertainment-produced miniseries, depicting dinosaurs and humans living together, will premiere on Hallmark this winter, executive vice president of programming David Kenin said Tuesday at the Television Critics Association tour here.
The miniseries, which drew more than 14 million viewers for each of ABC's three episodes, will become a weekly series on ABC this fall.
Also, the Western movie genre is alive and well at Hallmark, as the network will air two original cowboy-related movies beginning next month.
Johnson County War, based on Wyoming homesteaders' fight against cattle barons, will premiere Aug. 24, Kenin said. The movie boasts an all-star cast featuring Tom Berenger, Burt Reynolds, Luke Perry and Rachel Ward.
In addition, the network in December will debut The Last Cowboy, starring Jennie Garth (Beverly Hills 90210) and Lance Henriksen (Millennium), Kenin said.
