ESPN Wins Week Again

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 11/25/2003 11:16:00 AM

ESPN wore the primetime helmet again last week as its National Football League coverage continues to tackle Nielsen viewers.

Boosted by basic cable’s top-rated show, an 8.1 household mark for Sunday night’s game between the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins, ESPN averaged a 2.3 from Nov. 17-23.

That was 0.4 points higher than Disney Channel’s 1.9, according to an ABC Cable Networks Group analysis of Nielsen Media Research data.

Nickelodeon, USA Network and Turner Network Television were all tied for third with a 1.8.

Cartoon Network finished sixth for the week, ahead of a 1.4 for The History Channel.

Lifetime Television, TBS Superstation and Fox News Channel were next, knotted with a 1.3.

On the total-day side of the ledger, Nick was on familiar ground, leading the pack with a 1.6. Disney was second with a 1.2, 0.1 points ahead of TNT and Cartoon. Lifetime was fifth at 1.0 last week.
