Adelphia Rides `Virtual Truck'

BroadJump Inc. said Adelphia Communications Corp. has agreed to deploy its 'Virtual Truck Qualifier and Installer' software to about 150 affiliates that offer cable-modem service. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
BroadJump's Virtual Truck software suite is designed to prequalify subscribers for high-speed services and to allow subscribers to activate the service from home, eliminating the need for expensive truck rolls and reducing post-installation support calls.
BroadJump's software bundle enables Adelphia 'to not only provide a user-friendly installation experience to our subscribers, but also to enable new fulfillment models,' Adelphia executive vice president Michael Rigas said in a press release.
Among those models, Adelphia, which serves 5.7 million cable subscribers, said BroadJump's software will allow it to sell cable-modem service via retail channels. The MSO added that it will rebrand the software under its 'Power Link' name.
In addition to cable-modem software, BroadJump also sells similar packages designed for digital-subscriber-line and fixed-wireless connections. The company's customer roster includes AT&T Broadband, Time Warner Cable, Road Runner and Sprint Corp.
