Rex Cook was named executive creative director of AvatarLabs, a full-service motion graphics and editorial design studio. AvatarLabs' clients include CBS Television, The Walt Disney Co., and The Discovery Channel.
C-SPAN
Steve Scully, senior executive producer and political editor for C-SPAN, was appointed the Amos B. Hostetter Chair, a joint chair between The Cable Center and Denver University. In this position, Scully will direct the development of curriculum and teach courses in the Distance Learning Program developed by the three partners and underwritten by cable pioneer Amos Hostetter.
Eden FX
Visual effects shop Eden FX named Laurel Klick as its visual effects supervisor for the company's newly formed feature film unit.
Fox News Channel
Former MSNBC anchor Gregg Jarrett joined FOX News Channel as news anchor.
G4
Video game network G4 named Hubert Smith vice president of business and legal affairs and Gil Breakman VP of finance. Smith will be responsible for production, marketing, creative services, music, distribution and licensing-related deal making, and affiliate sales and general corporate business and legal affairs for G4. Breakman will oversee all aspects of finance, accounting, information technology and facilities for the company.
G4 also appointed Mark O'Connell VP of affiliate sales and Gloria Jolley director of affiliate sales. O'Connell will be responsible for maximizing sales and distribution of G4 nationwide, and Jolley will be responsible for sales, distribution and marketing. G4 named Susan Davis account executive of affiliate sales. She had been account manager for Fox Family Channel.
Hotelvision
Hotelevision Inc. hired Deidra Didion as account manager in its New York office. Didion will be responsible for cultivating new client relationships and working with existing advertisers as part of the Hotelevision's advertising sales effort. She previously served as sales associate for Discovery Communications Inc.
Lippen Group
The Lippin Group promoted Jennifer Price to executive vice president. In this new position Price will continue to spearhead publicity campaigns for high-profile award shows, consumer products, special events, musicians and television series.
MTV
MTV Networks Latin America elevated Pierluigi Gazzolo to senior vice president of distribution.
Next Level
Ken St. Cyr joined Next Level Communications Inc. as senior vice president of operations. St. Cyr comes had been with Dell Computer Corp.
Next Level also added two new directors to its board: president and CEO of Hutchinson Telecommunications Inc. Walter Clay and telecom veteran Alex Good.
PBS
The Public Broadcasting Service promoted Deron Triff to the newly created position of vice president of digital ventures. In his new role, Triff will be charged with identifying and pursuing digital television and interactive media opportunities, including on-demand strategies for digital video recorders, video-on-demand and digital channel plans. PBS also named Lea Sloan vice president of media relations.
SCTE
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers elevated Ginny Nagle to director of marketing. Nagle previously served as manager of marketing communications. She will oversee the development of marketing programs for the Society's member-based resources and events
TBS
As part of the expansion of its corporate research unit, Turner Broadcasting System Inc. promoted Nancy Lucas to corporate vice president of strategic research and audience analysis. Robin Thomas was promoted to Lucas's former position of VP of Research for TBS Superstation and Turner South. Greg Gajus assumed the position of VP of research. And Fred Spring was named VP of research for Turner Network Television and Turner Classic Movies.
Techtv
Greg Brannan was appointed senior vice president of programming for Techtv. Brannan will head Techtv's domestic and international programming efforts. Previously, Brannan oversaw programming at E! Networks.
Telecordia
Telcordia Technologies Inc. appointed Teresa Vega corporate vice president and group president for mobility, cable and emerging markets. Vega most recently served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Lucent Technologies.
