Mediacom Goes 3 Mbps

By Matt Stump -- Multichannel News, 1/6/2004 11:51:00 AM

Mediacom Communications Corp. joined other cable operators in increasing the downstream speed of its high-speed-data business to 3 megabits per second from 1.5 mbps while increasing upstream speeds from 128 kilobits per second to 256 kbps.

The transition is scheduled to begin Feb. 1, with full implementation scheduled for May 31.

"Given their more demanding usage patterns on the Internet, our customers tell us that speed matters most to them," Mediacom Online vice president J.R. Walden said in a prepared statement.
