Public Enemy cofounder Chuck D is getting his own cable network for a week.
Chuck D will select certain Trio programming July 2-10 as part of “My Trio: Chuck D.”
The network will also air the world premiere of Public Enemy Live from the House of Blues (1999) Saturday, July 3 at 7:30 p.m. (EST).
Chuck D’s picks included original Trio documentary The N-Word; the network-television premiere of Nick Broomfield documentary Biggie & Tupac; and films including Nothing But a Man (1964), Cooley High (1975), A Rage in Harlem (1991) and Panther (1995).
“Chuck D is a strong public figure who burst onto the music and pop-culture music scene with a wake-up call to America,” Trio president Lauren Zalaznick said in a prepared statement.
“His program selections for the week are thought-provoking and entertaining,” she added. “They address a variety of relevant social issues, some with drama, some with a sense of humor and some with a fresh historical perspective.”
