Heyer Bubbles Up at Coca-Cola
By Steve Donohue -- Multichannel News, 3/7/2001 12:45:00 PM
Former Turner Broadcasting System Inc. president and chief operating officer Steven Heyer was named president of the ventures unit at The Coca-Cola Co. Wednesday.
The announcement came one day after AOL Time Warner Inc. shook up the ranks, naming The WB Television Network CEO Jamie Kellner chairman and CEO of Turner Broadcasting.
Heyer will go after new business opportunities at Coca-Cola and manage its interests in noncarbonated-beverage new businesses and ventures, the company said.
In a prepared statement, Heyer said he had discussed the position with Coca-Cola CEO Douglas Daft 'over the past five months to define my mission clearly.'
Heyer also said the fact that the position will keep him in Atlanta -- where both Turner and Coca-Cola are based -- 'only added to its appeal.'
