In Demand Lays Off 35 Employees

Pay-per-view/video-on-demand purveyor In Demand laid off around 35 employees in response to continued industry consolidation.
Most of the layoffs within the 150-employee company occurred in the affiliate-sales and marketing departments, according to In Demand officials.
CEO Rob Jacobson confirmed the dismissals, adding that industry consolidation and in-house VOD marketing by MSOs were factors in the move.
“The layoffs were done as part of the consolidation that’s gone on in the industry, and it is a way for us to better meet the industry’s needs more efficiently,” he said. “Marketing for VOD has not been as uniformed with the partners as it has been in the past, so we’ve trimmed back the marketing department to respond to that. The industry is evolving and we’re evolving to meet their needs.”
In Demand is owned by Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications Inc.
