Hong Kong Alliance Craters, Firms Say

Hong Kong-The grand alliance for a multimedia venture between News Corp.'s Star TV group and telco Cable & Wireless HKT Ltd. has fallen apart.

The two companies issued a joint statement last Friday announcing the termination of their pay TV and Internet project.

But they also said they-along with the company buying HKT, Pacific Century CyberWorks-will explore other "joint opportunities."
