HSA Takes International Steps

Establishing its first international beachhead, High Speed Access Corp. said it has won a three-year deal to provide Internet-protocol services to Kabel Nordrhein-Westfalen GmbH & Co., a Callahan Associates International LLC-operated MSO based in Germany's North-Rhine-Westphalia region.
HSA said it will handle Kabel NRW's IP-network design, provisioning, core network management, network-operations-center support, account management, electronic mail, Web hosting and data storage and tracking. HSA did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
Kabel NRW, which serves 4.2 million subscribers in Germany, intends to launch a suite of high-speed, voice-over-IP and other interactive services by the third quarter of this year.
Callahan, which owns 55 percent of Kabel NRW, said it also plans to acquire a major slice of Deutsche Telekom's cable property in Baden-Württemberg, and it is in talks to acquire regional carrier NetCologne Gesellschaft fuer Telekommunikation GmbH.
