VH1 senior vice president and former Late Night with David Letterman writer Fred Graver has been tapped to head the network's programming and production department.
As executive vice president of programming and production, Graver will oversee VH1's entire production and programming strategy. He inherits a division that has been very aggressive in the development of original series, movies and specials in recent years.
'We're going to continue to develop new, adventurous programming for our viewers and try to put together a strategy that will allow our audience to find new ways to access music,' Graver said.
The network will place a greater emphasis on convergence with the VH1.com Web site, which Graver launched in 1999. That includes the continual development of the network's My VH1 Music Awards, for which Graver served as executive producer.
Graver succeeds Jeff Gaspin, who left the post to become NBC's executive vice president of alternative series, long form and program strategy.
Prior to his stint at VH1, Graver won three Emmy Awards as a writer for Letterman, and he was nominated for two other Emmys for his work on In Living Color.
