New York — Verizon Communications is lowering prices on its monthly digital subscriber line service to $29.95 until the end of the year, in a bid to reach its stated goal of 1.2 million to 1.3 million DSL customers by Dec. 31.
Verizon said it just passed the 1 million subscriber mark, which means it will need at least 200,000 subscribers in the balance of the fourth quarter to reach its goal. The most DSL subscribers Verizon had ever added in one quarter was 190,000 in fourth-quarter 2000.
During the promotion, there is no annual commitment, no activation of service or termination fee and a 30-day money-back guarantee, Verizon said. Consumers have to sign up between Oct. 19 and Nov. 30.
