Lowered Expectations at Broadcom

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 9/13/2004 1:22:00 PM

Blaming delayed orders by its customers, chip-maker Broadcom Corp. lowered its third-quarter revenue guidance Monday.

The company said it now expects revenue for the third quarter ending Sept. 30 to be flat to slightly up from its second-quarter revenue of $641 million.

Broadcom said all four of its units have been hurt by "inventory rebalancing," primarily by a limited number of customers within its broadband-communications and mobile-and-wireless business groups.

The company added that chips for satellite and cable set-top-box applications and cellular phones have seen especially weaker sales.
