MTV: Music Television Thursday named president of programming Brian Graden to the newly created position of entertainment president, overseeing content throughout the network's various distribution platforms.
Graden, a five-year MTV Networks veteran, will be responsible for developing creative content for all of the company's cable and Internet ventures, including MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com, as well as expanding the network's reach into new technologies, such as wireless devices and digital radio, the network said.
Graden will continue to oversee MTV's programming, including news and specials, production, animation and series development.
'Our audience is listening to XM [Satellite] Radio [Holdings Inc.], they have wireless devices and they are playing on the computer all the time,' Graden said. 'Our mission is to be everywhere our audience is, so we envision creating content across a variety of platforms that's consistent to our brand. We want to make sure we're aggregating audiences wherever we can.'
In another MTV appointment, the network named music-industry veteran Peter Baron vice president of label relations for MTV and MTV2.
Baron, who previously headed Music Video Central -- which commissioned videos for such artists as Blink-182 -- will serve as the liaison between record labels and the MTV channels, the network said.
