Next Season Last for Sopranos

By R. Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 7/14/2002 9:51:00 AM

Pasadena, Calif. -- Home Box Office's successful hit series, The Sopranos, will most likely end its run after its fifth season in 2003, according to the show's creator and executive producer, David Chase.

Chase, speaking Friday at the Television Critics Association tour here, said the fifth season will be his last as the show's producer.

Several cast members, including Sopranos star James Gandolfini, vowed not to continue on with the critically acclaimed series without Chase.

The fourth season of The Sopranos premieres Sept. 15.
