Weather Front Improves for MSNBC

A three-way alliance between news outlet MSNBC.com, Microsoft Corp.'s MSN and The Weather Channel's weather.com will bring online users better updates on the changing weather scene.
Under the agreement, weather.com will provide MSNBC.com and MSN with current conditions, five-day forecasts, links to additional weather information such as air quality, travel information and specific forecasts for golf, recreation, home and gardening.
In the near future it will include weather alerts and forecasts transmitted to mobile devices, e-mail and instant messaging services.
'We are very pleased to work with Microsoft,' said Debora Wilson, president and chief executive officer for weather.com.
'This agreement to become the weather provider to MSNBC.com and MSN allows us to increase our reach and will expose even more Internet users to the reliable and timely weather content consumers trust and seek from The Weather Channel.'
On the MSNBC.com site, a custom weather information page will be offered for 80,000 locations world wide.
MSN ISP users will be able to access weather information via several Web links, including the MSN City Guides, MSN Calendar and on My MSN.
