Time Warner Cable has tapped Concurrent Computer Corp. to supply video-on-demand systems for its central Florida division.
Concurrent will supply 73 'MediaHawk Model 2000' video servers for the division, which passes more than 1 million homes and has approximately 300,000 digital set-top boxes deployed.
It is Time Warner's third-largest cable system and once was home to the now-infamous Full Service Network, an early attempt at interactive TV.
Atlanta-based Concurrent will also supply its 'Broadband VOD Business Management System' to run the billing and subscription management for the service.
The company also supplies VOD systems to Time Warner's Tampa, Fla., and Houston systems.
It has 23 commercial deployments so far, also supplying VOD systems to Cox Communications Inc., Comcast Cable Communications Inc., Canada's Cogeco Inc., Mediacom Communications Corp. and Blue Ridge Communications.
