Japanese MSO Taps Intellocity

By Jeff Baumgartner -- Multichannel News, 1/30/2001 9:56:00 AM

Tomen Mediacom Inc., Japan's second-largest cable operator, has hired Denver-based Intellocity USA Inc. to provide technical assistance for its forthcoming interactive-television services.

To that end, Intellocity said it will assess and review Tomen Mediacom's network infrastructure and determine what components and systems will be necessary before the operator moves ahead with specific hardware and middleware installations.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Tomen Mediacom said it will be 'the first large cable operator' to pursue interactive TV in Japan. Some satellite companies there have already launched such services.

Among its other clients, Intellocity provides interactive-TV-consulting services to AT&T Broadband.
