FX Locks Up The Shield for Fourth Season

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 5/5/2004 11:31:00 AM

FX has renewed gritty cop series The Shield for a fourth season, according to network officials.

The general-entertainment service has ordered 15 installments of the Michael Chiklis-starrer, with the new episodes set to premiere early in 2005.

The show’s current season came out of the ratings gate slowly, but it has picked up some momentum with Nielsen Media Research in recent weeks. Season to date, the show has averaged a 2.3 household rating for the premiere of eight episodes. The show’s second season scored a 2.8.

The last of the third season’s 15 original episodes is scheduled for June 15 at 10 p.m.
