NRTC-DirecTV Ruling Doesn’t Cover Pegasus

By Multi Channel News Staff -- Multichannel News, 11/14/2003 12:00:00 PM

A settlement between the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative and DirecTV Inc. reached in August does not affect the rights of another plaintiff, Pegasus Communications Corp., a federal court in Los Angeles ruled Thursday.

Pegasus sought the legal clarification because DirecTV executives stated their belief that the NRTC settlement would resolve rights challenges by NRTC member Pegasus, as well.

The NRTC and Pegasus sued DirecTV over efforts by the direct-broadcast satellite company to accelerate the termination date of programming-redistribution contracts.
