C-COR Buys Optinel

By Matt Stump -- Multichannel News, 8/30/2004 8:33:00 AM

C-COR Inc. is adding a gigabit-Ethernet-transport-product line to its portfolio with the purchase of Optinel Systems Inc.

C-COR will pay $9.5 million in cash upfront, and Optinel’s owners are in for another $6 million if certain sales objectives are met in the 13 months after the deal closes.

“Optinel’s technology fills out our next generation packet-based, optical-transport solution and allows us the flexibility to meet the individualized business needs of our customers,” said C-COR chairman and CEO David Woodle.

Optinel’s flagship product is its PLEXiS Gigabit Ethernet transport gear, available in both dense-wave and course-wave division multiplexing. The platform allows for 1, 2.5 or 10-Gigabit transport on a unidirectional or bidirectional basis.
