The National Cable & Telecommunications Association announced Thursday that 'Connecting America' will be the theme for this spring's National Show, scheduled for a May 5 start in New Orleans.
'This year's theme celebrates the cable industry's leadership in connecting America,' NCTA president Robert Sachs said in a prepared statement. 'In an increasingly competitive marketplace, cable has already made broadband access available to some 70 million households.'
Sachs also announced that the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing has timed its 2002 Broadband Opportunity Conference to take place during the National Show. 'The combined agenda will enhance the value for convention attendees,' he added.
Alluding to the tough times and lagging attendance encountered by the Western Show and other conferences in the months since Sept. 11, Sachs said, 'We are optimistic about this year's show. We think the National Show will continue to provide a very valuable resource for our industry's constituencies.'
