Turner Classic Movies announced that it will offer a small-screen forum to contemporary actors to discuss vintage films that have inspired their lives during Saturday nights in October and November.
Under the heading, "Under the Influence," actors will introduce a seminal film that has had the greatest impact on them and discuss the qualities that made it meaningful.
On tap: Oct. 4, William H. Macy on Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb; Oct. 11, John Turturro on On the Waterfront; Oct. 18, Jeff Daniels on The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek; Oct. 25, James Woods on From Here to Eternity; and Nov. 1, Nathan Lane on To Kill a Mockingbird.
A TCM spokeswoman said that depending on how viewers respond, it is considering extending its Influence format. "We’ve spoken with a number of other actors who are interested," she added.
