The National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative said Monday that it is
partnering with the VH1 Save the Music Foundation to donate $25,000 in musical
instruments to a rural elementary or middle school this fall.
The foundation has been collecting applications from rural schools over the
past six months, and it plans to name the school chosen for the donation at a
press conference in September.
The NRTC and its members help to distribute DirecTV Inc. direct-broadcast
satellite systems in certain rural territories.
VH1 also works with cable operators to help support music education in urban
schools.
