Richard Tunkle was appointed manager of new business development for TV, cable and multimedia service for Arbitron Inc. Tunkle will work with TV stations, broadcast and cable networks, interconnects and MSOs in New York and Philadelphia.
Charter
Charter Communications Inc. named Jim Heneghan vice president of Charter Media. Heneghan will oversee advertising sales operations companywide.
CN8
CN8, The Comcast Network promoted Susan Carden to vice president of network programming. Carden will oversee program development, distribution and scheduling and also execute the company's original programming strategy.
Comcast
Vince Johnson was named vice president of human resources for Comcast Cable Communications Inc. Stephen Rabbitt was tapped as area vice president for the Eastern Division. Rabbitt will be responsible for the Bucks County, Pa., area. The company also promoted Thomas Jefferson to regional senior director of human resources for the Washington and Virginia region. Comcast Corp. named Anne Wexler senior Washington advisor. She will counsel the company on key public policy issues during the period leading up to Comcast's merger with AT&T Broadband.
Cox
Lindsey Burroughs was appointed vice president and general manager of Cox Business Services in San Diego. Burroughs will be responsible for the sales, support, service and customer satisfaction for the unit.
Encoda
Encoda Systems Inc. named Jack Donnelly vice president and chief information officer. Donnelly will be responsible for global information technology and service bureau activities.
Fox
Fox Cable Networks Group announced the following promotions in their affiliate sales and marketing division in Los Angeles: Michael Biard was named vice president of national accounts; Jonathan Sarrow was elevated to director of affiliate business affairs; Jeff Lutzky was appointed vice president of affiliate sales strategy; and Ryan Smith was tapped as director of sales strategy. FCNG also named Sandy Byars regional marketing executive for the southwest region based in Irving, Texas.
Granada
Sean Gallagher was named vice president of business and legal affairs for Granada Entertainment USA. Gallagher previously served as senior director of business and legal affairs.
MTV
MTV Networks tapped Alex Coletti as executive in charge of programming and production for MTV2. Coletti will be responsible for developing interactive programming for MTV2 and will oversee the network's production staff.
Narad
Chuck Kaplan was appointed vice president of marketing for Narad Networks Inc. Kaplan previously served as vice president of marketing and sales for Scientific-Atlanta Inc.'s software subsidiary PowerTV.
Nat Geo
National Geographic Channel tapped Stephanie Fleming as senior vice president of marketing and new media. Fleming will be responsible for creating strategic alliances and marketing partnerships that support distribution of the channel's brand.
NBA
The National Basketball Association named Timothy Andree senior vice president of Communications. Andree responsibilities will include media relations, public affairs and marketing communications.
NCC
National Cable Communications announced the following personnel changes for its Dallas sales office: Mary Toole was promoted to sales manager of the national team, and Pat Baughman and Chad Hoker joined NCC as account executives.
Pace
Derrick Fitzgerald was appointed director of product management for Pace Micro Technology plc. Fitzgerald will manage the company's digital cable home gateway set-top product line to meet the needs of the North American cable market.
SCTE
Joel Welch was named director of certification and program development for the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers. Welch will oversee the development and accuracy of technical content for the SCTE's educational curriculums.
ShopNBC
ShopNBC appointed Maureen McDowall vice president of content for broadcast operations. The network also named Robb Richter vice president of marketing and show scheduling.
Showtime
Amy Salerno was promoted to director of business development for Showtime Networks Inc. Salerno formerly was manager of business development.
Susquehanna
Susquehanna Communications named Mitch Piskur general manager for its cable system in York, Pa. Piskur most recently served as group director of operations for Charter Communications Inc. in Vincennes, Ind.
Terayon
Sarah Hackforth was named vice president and general manager of Terayon Communications Systems Inc.'s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations. Hackforth will develop and implement the company's business strategies for its digital cable solutions products in those areas.
TWC
Time Warner Cable appointed T. Ray Purser vice president of public affairs. Purser will oversee the company's positioning, media relations and government affairs. Mark Mersky was tapped as vice president of operations of TWC Advertising Sales.
Weather Central
Anne VanDerGeest was named director of new business development for Weather Central Inc. She will be responsible for identifying international opportunities and expanding the company's business into Canada and South America.
WGN
Bill Shaw was named vice president and general manager of WGN Superstation. Shaw was vice president of sales for WGN's parent Tribune Cable.
WICT
The New York chapter of Women in Cable and Telecommunications announced its officers and board members for 2002. Officers include: Sue Panzer, chapter president; Jeannine Sommer and Cheryl Marks, co-vice presidents; Mary Svet, treasurer; Lisa Lyons, secretary; Ilise Benun and Melani Griffith, membership co-chairs. Board members include: Gretchen Beidl, Nick Febrizio, Lori Greenwood, Lorraine Hack, Vincent McDonald, Amy Moshovos, Mary Oldak, Colleen Quinn, Ellen Schned, Cindy Swensen, Patricia Wilber and Mark Zelenz.
