Mark Stern will experience the awe and mystery of reaching from the inner minds behind Showtime/Sci Fi Channel's long-running revival of The Outer Limits to top programmer at Sci Fi.
Stern -- writer, supervising producer and, ultimately, TV-division president at Trilogy Entertainment Group Inc., Limits' production home, since 1987 -- will become the network's senior vice president of original programming.
He'll also develop science-fiction series and projects for other cable and broadcast networks through Universal Television Productions, a sister Vivendi Universal Entertainment unit.
Stern's "keen eye for fresh new series and films and his understanding of the genre will surely be an asset," Sci Fi president Bonnie Hammer said in a prepared statement.
At Trilogy, he recently worked on The Twilight Zone revival for UPN, NBC's recent remake of Carrie and Breaking News, the weekly broadcast-journalism drama originally made for Turner Network Television, which wound up on Bravo this summer.
