Digital-video offerings such as digital cable and HDTV are now included in Cable Television Laboratories Inc.’s Go2Broadband service-locator application, CableLabs said Tuesday.
"As an industry, we have worked diligently to coordinate the sale of video services with the latest products available from the consumer-electronics industry," Comcast Corp. senior vice president of strategic planning Mark Coblitz said in a release.
"It only makes sense that we provide a convenient way for consumers to sign up for high-definition cable services at the same time they are purchasing their new 50-inch HDTV," he added.
CableLabs launched G2B more than three years ago as a high-speed-data-service locator, and it is being expanded to serve other cable-operator offerings, including allowing consumers who move households to connect with new cable operators in their new communities.
G2B is available in retail outlets such as Best Buy Co. Inc. stores.
