Victoria Salhus was named senior vice president and deputy general counsel Cablevision Systems Corp. Salhus will continue to provide legal counsel to senior management on major corporate and securities transactions for the company and its subsidiaries. In addition, she will continue to oversee Cablevision's securities regulatory filings.

James Carnes was elected to the board of directors of C-COR.net Corp. Carnes is the recently retired president and CEO of the Sarnoff Corp.
Charter
Charter Communications Inc. elevated Melinda Jeffries to corporate vice president of marketing services. In her new position, Jeffries will oversee all corporate marketing campaigns.
CNN
CNN Productions appointed Kathy Slobogin managing editor of CNN Presents. Slobogin will oversee all aspects of the series.
Comcast
Comcast Cable Communications Inc. promoted Keith Taub to regional vice president of finance and administration for New Jersey. Taub will oversee the financial management of Comcast operations in the Garden State.
CTAM
Mindy Herman was elected to the Cable & Telecommuni-cations Association for Marketing Educational Foundation's 22-member board of directors. Herman is president and CEO of E! Networks.
Discovery
Dan Salerno was tapped as vice president of program planning for Discovery Networks U.S. Salerno will help direct programming content and strategic opportunities across all of Discovery's U.S. networks and manage programming partnerships.
Hallmark Channel
Hallmark Channel appointed Elizabeth Hillman and Pam Slay to head its two new publicity departments. Hillman, formerly of National Geographic, was named vice president of cor-porate communications. Slay, previously Hallmark Channel's executive director of communications and publicity, was tapped as VP of network program publicity.
MTV
MTV: Music Television promoted Kevin Mackall to senior vice president of on-air promotions for MTV and MTV2. Mackall will oversee all on-air promotion for MTV and MTV2, working directly with the channel's marketing, pro-social and programming departments.
NY WICT
The New York chapter of Women in Cable and Telecommunications announced its newly elected officers and board members for 2003: new chapter president, Jeannine Sommer of Carlsen Resources; chapter co-vice presidents Cheryl Marks of Sesame Workshop and Marie Svet of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc.; treasurer, Lori Greenwood of National Cable Communications; secretary Kelly Boyd of Sci-Fi Channel; and immediate past president, Sue Panzer of Lifetime Television. The organization also named membership co-chairs: Ilise Benun of Guarino Woodman Advertising and Melani Griffith of AMC Networks.

Promax&BDA
Jim Chabin was named CEO of Promax&BDA. This is Chabin's second stint at the helm of the Los Angeles-based association of promotion, marketing and design professionals. He held the position from 1992 to 1999. He succeeds Glynn Brailsford, who now will become chief creative officer at Promax.
TBS
As part of the expansion of its corporate research unit, Turner Broadcasting System Inc. promoted Nancy Lucas to corporate vice president of strategic research and audience analysis. Robin Thomas was promoted to Lucas's former position of VP of Research for TBS Superstation and Turner South. Greg Gajus assumed the position of VP of research. And Fred Spring was named VP of research for Turner Network Television and Turner Classic Movies.
Techtv
Greg Brannan was appointed senior vice president of programming for Techtv. Brannan will head Techtv's domestic and international programming efforts. Previously, Brannan oversaw programming at E! Networks.
Telecordia
Telcordia Technologies Inc. appointed Teresa Vega corporate vice president and group president for mobility, cable and emerging markets. Vega most recently served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Lucent Technologies.
Hotelvision
Hotelevision Inc. hired Deidra Didion as account manager in its New York office. Didion will be responsible for cultivating new client relationships and working with existing advertisers as part of the Hotelevision's advertising sales effort. She previously served as sales associate for Discovery Communications Inc.
AvatarLabs
Rex Cook was named executive creative director of AvatarLabs, a full-service motion graphics and editorial design studio. AvatarLabs' clients include CBS Television, The Walt Disney Co., and The Discovery Channel.
Fox News Channel
Former MSNBC anchor Gregg Jarrett joined FOX News Channel as news anchor.
Lippen Group
The Lippin Group promoted Jennifer Price to executive vice president. In this new position Price will continue to spearhead publicity campaigns for high-profile award shows, consumer products, special events, musicians and television series.
PBS
The Public Broadcasting Service promoted Deron Triff to the newly created position of vice president of digital ventures. In his new role, Triff will be charged with identifying and pursuing digital television and interactive media opportunities, including on-demand strategies for digital video recorders, video-on-demand and digital channel plans. PBS also named Lea Sloan vice president of media relations.
G4
Video game network G4 named Hubert Smith vice president of business and legal affairs and Gil Breakman VP of finance. Smith will be responsible for production, marketing, creative services, music, distribution and licensing-related deal making, and affiliate sales and general corporate business and legal affairs for G4. Breakman will oversee all aspects of finance, accounting, information technology and facilities for the company.
Next Level
Ken St. Cyr joined Next Level Communications Inc. as senior vice president of operations. St. Cyr comes had been with Dell Computer Corp.
Next Level also added two new directors to its board: president and CEO of Hutchinson Telecommunications Inc. Walter Clay and telecom veteran Alex Good.
C-SPAN
Steve Scully, senior executive producer and political editor for C-SPAN, was appointed the Amos B.Hostetter Chair, a joint chair between The Cable Center and Denver University. In this position, Scully will direct the development of curriculum and teach courses in the Distance Learning Program developed by the three partners and underwritten by cable pioneer Amos Hostetter.
