Harold Akselrad, Home Box Office's executive vice president of business
affairs, has added the title of general counsel.
In his new charge, Akselrad will oversee all legal aspects of HBO's
operations, while retaining his current duties as executive VP, business
affairs, which includes business affairs, production and administration of HBO's
entire programming operation.
After the promotion, Akselrad will continue to report to HBO chief operating
officer Bill Nelson.
"Hal is widely regarded throughout the industry for his business acumen and
understanding of the complexities that face our industry today," Nelson said in
a prepared statement.
"All of us who have worked with Hal for many years greatly value his
judgment," he added. "As technology changes in our industry, he is instrumental
in protecting and carving out the rights necessary to maintain and grow our
business."
