San Francisco-To capitalize on growing interest in the Internet and all things digital, ZDTV chief operating officer Joe Gillespie said last week that he plans to seek greater analog carriage for the channel among cable operators eyeing new ways to push their new broadband services.
"We're out talking to major MSOs now about how we can form marketing partnerships not only to drive digital tiers, but also to develop programs aimed at driving high-speed access," Gillespie said. "We cover a lot of broadband issues on our shows, and we can create infomercials."
The network will also help operators with their Web sites, through video streams designed to walk cable customers through new product setups, Gillespie said.
ZDTV plans to hold its first ad-sales upfront event at the Rainbow Room here Thursday (April 6). Vulcan Ventures Inc.' s Paul Allen-who finalized his purchase of the network earlier this year-will address the audience via videotape.
The network, which turns two years old in May, has carriage in nearly 17 million U.S. homes. Industry sources hinted ZDTV was close to signing a "hunting license" with Time Warner Cable. he network, which turns two years old in May, has carriage in nearly 17 million U.S. homes.
