Fuel Ups Olivares to Senior VP/GM

By Staff -- Multichannel News, 8/9/2004 8:45:00 AM MT

Action-sports network Fuel has named C.J. Olivares senior vice president and general manager of the channel.

Formerly VP, programming and marketing, he’ll assume a greater role in day-to-day management of the network. He reports to Fox Cable Networks executive vice president of emerging networks David Sternberg. “C.J. has been the guiding creative force behind Fuel’s programming and positioning since the idea of the network was first conceived,” said Sternberg in a prepared statement. “I am happy that in his new role, he will be helping me to convey his vision and passion for the network to our distributors, advertisers and other key external business constituencies.” Olivares’s new responsibilities will include

  • working closely with Fox Networks Group’s affiliate and advertising sales groups to accelerate the network’s revenue growth

  • identifying new sources of income, such as broadband and wireless content distribution; and

  • serving as a liaison with the Fox International Entertainment Channels Group to develop localized versions of Fuel in major territories around the world.

As programming chief, he’ll continue to oversee all original program development, acquisition, production, scheduling and promotion for the 11 million-subscriber domestic network.
