A&E

Brian Janks was named vice president of advertising sales Central region for A&E Television Networks' advertising department. The company also promoted Robert Edney to vice president of advertising sales for the Eastern region.

Archipelago

Lori Pate, a former excutive producer with 3 Ring Circus, became founding principal in the new creative-services firm Archipelago.

BigBand Networks

BigBand Networks Inc. appointed Dean Gilbert to its board of directors. Gilbert has worked for Excite@Home Corp., Positive Communications and Paragon Cable.

Bravo

Bravo Networks announced the following appointments to its programming staff: Elana SanGabino was named director of programming and continuity; Tricia Lynch was tapped as director of programming administration; and Ian Levy was appointed manager of acquisitions and original specials.

Charter

Jim Holanda was elevated to vice president of operations for the Central Region of Charter Communications Inc. Holanda had been vice president of operations for the St. Louis Metropolitan area.

Clean Sweep

Clean Sweep appointed Jim Tippett vice president of sales and marketing.

CMT

Jama Bowen was promoted to vice president of press for CMT: Country Music Television. Bowen, bashed in Nashville, Tenn., will continue to oversee consumer and trade publicity for CMT and will take on additional press responsibilities.

CNN

Cable News Network named Kathryn Kross Washington, D.C., vice president and bureau chief. Kross will manage all news coverage generated out of the capital. Kross tapped Steve Redisch as deputy bureau chief and Matt Speiser as director of newsgathering.

Comcast

James Sullivan Jr. was promoted to vice president of labor and employment law for Comcast Cable Communications Inc. Sullivan joined Comcast in 2001 as vice president of human resources. Also, Julie Nelson was elevated to director of recruitment and Karen Ralph was raised to director of human resources for the cable unit. And Comcast named Fred Graffam vice president and general manager of its Prince George's County, Md., system.

Daniels & Associates

Daniels & Associates named Keith Jardine vice president. Jardine has been with the company since 2000.

DirecTV

Antonio Barreto was appointed senior vice president of programming and marketing for DirecTV Latin America. Barreto previously served as vice president and general manager of ESPN International.

Fox Cable

Jeff Lutzky was named vice president of affiliate sales strategy for Fox Cable Networks Group in Los Angeles. Lutzky will oversee all budgeting, forecasting and billing issues related to the group's channels.

Insight

Insight Communications Co. announced two appointments in its marketing and programming department: Terry Denson joined the company as vice president of programming and Bill Binford was promoted to director of programming.

Lemur

Lemur Networks made the following additions to its advisory board: Walt Ciciora of Time Warner Cable, Stephen Dukes formerly of MediaOne Group Inc. and Tele-Communications Inc., Edward Horowitz of EdsLink LLC and Murthy Vangala of AT&T Labs.

Massillon Cable

Massillon Cable TV Inc. elected Robert Gessner president. He succeeds his father Richard, who founded Massillon Cable in 1965.

MOcean

Barry Smith was named director of new business development and executive producer for mOcean. Smith formerly served as vice president of business development for Novocom.

NAMIC

NAMIC's New York chapter announced its officers and board members for 2002. Officers include: Daphne Leroy, chapter president; chapter vice president Cherine Anderson; chapter secretary Djuna Barnes; chapter treasurer Katrina Monroe; and chapter assistant treasurer Walter Oden. Board members include: public affairs co-chairs Jerrie Calaunan and Christine Pagano; programming co-chairs Susan Banks, Michelle Thornton and Angela Jackson; membership co-chairs Joe Liverpool and Shaughn Dolcy; fundraising co-chairs Fred Brown and Kim Collins; and communications co-chairs Mercedes Vizcaino and Tina Thompson.

NBA

Scott Levy was promoted to vice president of international television and media for the National Basketball Association's Entertainment division. Levy will direct the development and distribution of NBA, Women's NBA and National Basketball Development League content for new media and wireless platforms outside of the United States and Canada.

NCC

National Cable Communications made the following personnel announcements: Tracey Wagner was promoted to sales manager of the regional team and Joe Feldman and Robb Rothfarb joined NCC as account executives. All three will work out of the Los Angeles sales office.

NCUBE

Michael Pohl was appointed president and CEO of nCUBE. Pohl has served as president for the company since 1999. The company also named Kyle Christensen vice president of finance and Clinton Tripodi vice president of workplace resources.

Ragdoll

Production company Ragdoll tapped David Levine as vice president of corporate and business affairs and Andrew Kerr as vice president of marketing and strategic alliances.

Correction

Stephanie Fleming is National Geographic Channel's new senior vice president of marketing. The incorrect title was given on March 4 People & Calendar page.
