The threefold success of USA Network’s original series -- Peacemakers, Monk and The Dead Zone – helped to push the network to the top of the ratings chart last week with a 2.1 household average.
The premiere of Peacemakers, the second-most-watched program last week, helped USA to march to the top of the ratings heap for the week of July 28-Aug. 3, according to an ABC Cable Networks Group analysis of Nielsen Media Research data.
The Wednesday-night premiere of the Western series, starring Tom Berenger and his crime-solving exploits, scored a 4.0 household rating.
With matching averages of 3.6, USA’s Monk was tied for fourth among programs last week with the network’s premiere of Steven Seagal’s The Foreigner, the highest-rated movie on basic cable last week.
USA finished just ahead of runners-up Lifetime Television and Turner Network Television, with averages of 2.1 and 2.0, respectively. Disney Channel was next with a 1.8, while Nickelodeon (1.7) and Cartoon Network (1.6) were fifth and sixth, respectively.
Rounding out the top 10: TBS Superstation with a 1.5; Fox News Channel and A&E Network, both with averages of 1.3; and ESPN with a 1.2.
TNT took the primetime cake among adults 18-49 (1.074 million viewers). USA was No. 2 in primetime for this advertiser-coveted demo with 1.02 million viewers, while
Lifetime -- bolstered by the success of its Designing Women Reunion July 28 and the bows of new Saturday-night series 1-800-MISSING and Wild Card -- was third with 971,000 viewers on average.
Spike TV’s presentation of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc.’s Raw was the highest-rated program for the week, with its Monday-night 10 p.m.-11 p.m. airing scoring a 4.3.
