Cox Communications Inc. said it has launched Scientific-Atlanta Inc.’s HD digital-video-recording “Explorer 8010” set-top box in San Diego, with planned launches in Phoenix; Las Vegas; Oklahoma City; Gainesville, Fla.; Santa Barbara, Calif.; northern Virginia; and cities in North Carolina and along the Gulf Coast.
Cox is pricing the service at $9.95 per month, plus the lease price for the HD set-top of $9.95.
The box features a recording-space-used indicator, auto-erase of oldest recordings, an enhanced all-episode-recording feature and a copy-to-VCR function. The 8010 can record up to 80 hours of programming.
