The Canadian Cable Television Association filed an application with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Thursday for permission to offer Fox News Channel.
If approved, Fox News would join a growing list of international news and public-affairs networks authorized by the CRTC, including BBC-World, EuroNews and Cable News Network.
“Fox News Channel is the No. 1 news service in the United States and is available in more than 50 countries," CCTA president Michael Hennessy said in a prepared statement. “We believe there is a clear demand from our customers for this service and we are excited about the possibility of offering Fox News Channel in Canada.”
