Discovery Takes Bite Out of Ratings

The Aug. 10 premiere of Discovery Channel’s Anatomy of a Shark Bite attracted more than 2 million viewers 25-54 and more than 3.2 million viewers 2-plus, the network announced Tuesday.

Shark Bite, which kicked off Discovery’s "Shark Week 2003," delivered an average of close to 2 million households in primetime.

The special ranked as Discovery’s No. 1 primetime Shark Week episode since 1994 among viewers 25-54 and the No. 1 Shark Week kickoff in primetime among households since 1991.

Shark Bitefeatured the first ever underwater footage of a bull-shark bite and provided an in-depth study of how and why sharks bite.
