Cox, Time Warner Team Up in San Diego

Cox Communications Inc. and Time Warner Cable have reached an “interconnect” agreement under which the former’s ad-sales arm, Cox Media, will represent Time Warner's advertising sales in the San Diego area, the two MSOs said Wednesday.
Cox has had a similar deal in place with Adelphia Communications Corp. since August 2001 for that operator’s 66,500 homes in the North County area of San Diego. The DMA has more than 865,000 cable homes.
“The goal is to make it easy for businesses to buy local cable advertising," Cox Media San Diego vice president and general manager Jeff Fisher said in a prepared statement.
"Cable is an important piece of any media plan, and when it comes to media buying, one-stop shopping is a tremendous benefit to our clients,” he added. “This market consolidation will make placing commercials marketwide a much more seamless experience."
Time Warner advertising-sales president Larry Fischer added, “Based on the success of interconnects we manage, like those in Cleveland and Minneapolis, we believe Cox Media will have similar positive results with the ad-sales business in San Diego.”
