USA’s Dead Zone Still Alive

Despite seeing a dramatic ratings drop during the show’s sophomore campaign, USA Network will resurrect supernatural series The Dead Zone for a 13-episode third season next year, executive vice president and general manager Michele Ganeless said.
The show -- based on the Stephen King novel and starring Anthony Michael Hall -- averaged a 2.3 household rating for 19 second-season episodes, down nearly a full point from its 3.1 freshman mark, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Ganeless said she was pleased with Dead Zone’s performance despite the drop, noting that the show pulled consistent viewership throughout season two.
She added that it fell marginally from its first season among the 25-54 (1.7) and 18-49 (1.4) demos.
USA’s other sophomore original series, Monk, is outpacing its first-season average household rating of 3.3 with a 3.4 through eight episodes this time around.
Ganeless said there are no current plans for Monk to be repurposed again on ABC, although the broadcast network holds the option.
