New York-Dora the Explorer's Nickelodeon debut Aug. 14 generated a rating of 11.22 (1.3 million viewers) among kids ages two through five, a record for the "Nick Jr." block.
Before this, the best Nick Jr. series start was posted by Blue's Clues (10.68) Sept. 9, 1996.
Dora first aired at 11 a.m. The second show, at 11:30, delivered a 12.85 rating in the Nick Jr. demographic, equal to 1.5 million viewers.
The show is a play-along, animated adventure series starring a seven-year-old Latina heroine who lives in a computer.
