BET Networks has named Nicholas Charles vice president, content, BET Interactive. He had been editor in chief of the AOL Black Voices Web site.

Cartoon

William Blair has joined Cartoon Network as vice president, ad sales promotions and marketing. He comes from Time Warner Global Media Group, where he was VP, divisional partnerships.

Comcast

Comcast has named Michael Casillo vice president, Three Rivers West area, responsible for operations in parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. He comes from the Midwest Division, where he was area VP, operations, Detroit market.

Comcast Spotlight

Kevin Patrick Smith was named Philadelphia-based vice president, advertising sales development at Comcast Spotlight. He had been president of TelAmerica CableConnect.

Court TV

Matt Stueland was named director, programming at Court TV. He was manager of program scheduling at Comedy Central.

Cox

Tony Matthews was named executive director of marketing at Cox Communications, based in the Atlanta headquarters.

Cox Media

Cox Media in Roanoke, Va., has named Scott Burton local sales manager. He had been regional advertising manager for the Lynchburg News & Advance.

Also, Jon Kaufman was named a local account executive in Roanoke. He had been an account executive for the Roanoke Times.

Discovery

Charlie Foley was named president and general manager of Animal Planet and Discovery Kids Media. He was an executive producer at Animal Planet.

Fuse

Carol Goll was named senior vice president, marketing at music network Fuse. She had been GM, brand experience marketing at Mercedes-Benz USA.

Hallmark

Hallmark Channel has named Nancy Carr senior vice president, corporate communications. She had been VP.

Interop

Interop, a Fort Myers, Fla.-based provider of advance wireless technologies to the wireless, packaged-goods and content industries, named Brian Moore vice president, sales. He comes from ClearSky Mobile Media, where he was VP, product marketing.

Ion

Ion Media Networks has tapped Brett Jenkins as director, technology strategy and development. He was TV transmission U.S. product manager at Thomson Broadcast & Multimedia.

MTV

MTV has added Maira Suro as senior vice president, series development, a new post. She had been executive producer of USA Network’s The 4400.

Nat Geo

National Geographic Channels International has elevated Germaine Deagan Sweet to vice president, content syndication, from network group vice president, sales and coproductions.

Also, Carlyn Staudt was elevated to vice president, acquisitions, from director, programming.

And Tim Joyce advanced to vice president, operations, from director.

NBC Universal

NBC Universal has named Cameron Death as vice president, digital content, NBC Digital Entertainment. He comes from Microsoft, where he led MSN’s U.S. Branded Entertainment and Experiences team.

Proxillant

Roy Kraft was named director, North American sales at cable technology vendor Proxillant Systems. He comes from Tollgrade Communications, where he was Northern U.S. Regional Sales Manager.

Simmons

Simmons Market Research Bureau has tapped Steve Walsh as leader of the Simmons Sales Team.

Also, Jill Partner will lead Simmons’ advertising agencies team and Jenifer Ong-Meyers will direct major New York agency relationships, supported by Rich Goldbeck. Allan Fox will oversee the Western region for Simmons.

Additionally, Jeremy Gabor will lead Simmons’ media strategy group, supported by Kelly Flynn and Jessica Altieri.

Also, Drew Simpson will head Experian Local Market Services, with Marc Sterhagen and Tom Morrison; Sarah Thomson will direct Western region advertisers; and Mike Allario will direct addressable advertising.

Sun Sports

Brett Opdyke has been named coordinating producer for Sun Sports and FSN Florida. He had been lead producer of FSN Florida’s Florida Marlins baseball telecasts.

Viacom

Denise White was named executive vice president, human resources and administration at Viacom. She had been GM, human resources at Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Group.
