Earthlink Builds Relationship With Time Warner Cable

High-Speed Internet Service Now Available To Op’s Customers In Dallas, LA

By Linda Haugsted -- Multichannel News, 9/10/2008 3:34:00 AM MT

Earthlink has expanded its business relationship with Time Warner Cable to include the provider's high-speed Internet services as a bundle option in the Los Angeles and Dallas markets.

In those systems, consumers can opt to buy 6-megabit high-speed data services from Earthlink for $29.95 for the first six months. The long-term price for a stand-alone service is $41.95. Residents can also buy Earthlink as part of discounted Time Warner bundles. Consumers in those markets can purchase Earthlink services either by calling that company or by ordering through Time Warner.

Earthlink and Time Warner Cable have partnered since 2001. The aforementioned markets are completing their transitions to Time Warner ownership.

In Los Angeles, the operator is completing an upgrade and integration of systems stemming from Time Warner and Comcast’s purchase of Adelphia in July 2006. Time Warner Cable also picked up Dallas in an exchange with Comcast. The L.A. deal adds access to 4 million passed for Earthlink in four Southern California counties; and there are 1 million homes in and around Dallas.

Kevin Brand, senior vice president, product management for Earthlink, said the business relationship gives customers who use Earthlink via dial-up the option to keep their e-mail addresses and familiar applications yet subscribe for a higher-speed experience.
