IneoQuest Checks Switched Video

Company Claims Four Of Top Five MSOs Using the Tool

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 6/23/2008 6:01:00 PM

Philadelphia—IneoQuest Technologies this week will demo a PC-based software application for testing and troubleshooting switched digital video networks for cable operators.

The IQDialogue Desktop Edition software provides information on an SDV service delivery platform—with the ability to emulate up to 10,000 or more concurrent SDV sessions—and can help identify and fix problems.

IneoQuest vice president of strategic solutions Gino Dion said the company introduced the IQDialogue Desktop Edition tool earlier this year. Four of the top five MSOs are currently using the product in their labs or in field deployments, according to Dion, as are several switched digital video and edge QAM manufacturers.

“The industry was looking for an independent testing tool for switched digital video,” Dion said.

Other companies that have produced SDV emulation and testing tools include Solekai Systems and Atlanta-based Itaas.

Switched digital video systems from BigBand Networks, Cisco Systems, Motorola and others conserve bandwidth by delivering linear TV channels only when a subscriber in a service group requests them.

IneoQuest’s pricing for the tool ranges from $9,000 to $16,000 per site, depending on the number of licenses purchased, Dion said.

The company is developing a server edition of the product, which builds on the desktop tool with features such as a database repository and the ability to send out alerts.

IneoQuest plans to debut IQDialogue at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ Cable-Tec Expo conference here this week.
